BarryDeSaw.com – a blog on human rights and politics

This blog is created by Barry De Saw, an American living in New York State.

This blog is a forum for the discussion of political and philosophical issues. I, Barry De Saw, intend herein to elaborate extensively on the relationships between political ideas and the ways they ultimately impact our shared desire for a more just and agreeable existence. Often, of course, human beings – and importantly in groups! – intend to advance a cause which they believe is just and creditable, and that cause brings greater overall suffering. Let it be proclaimed here very publicly: this writing is intended to navigate the tricky waters of human ignorance and miscalculation and work toward a world with considerably less injustice, distrust, corruption, and less oppression and a lessened threat to the survival of our species and its greatest achievement: civilization. To this end I will propose again and again that the recognition of human rights must have a central role.

The main part of this blog is contained in accumulated related essays and addenda on topics arranged in groups. The groups we refer to as “threads”, and the individual offering, sometimes containing several paragraphs, but given whole – much like a typical essay – is a respective “post”. All of these will be available through the “POSTS/THREADS” drop down menu, which appears here on this page. My (Barry’s) contributions will appear in black type, and the contributions of visitors will appear in light-colored boxes below that initial post. In this way, my writing and and visitors’ comments will always be easily distinguishable.

Each thread will be identified with a number, the chronologically earlier threads having the lower number. And I’ve begun with “1”. In this way, visitors can keep track of the threads they want to review and invite others to view. Contributors must identify the thread to which they wish their writing to pertain – which is obviously where it will appear, if it is accepted. Visitors who wish to contribute content are advised to word their communication very carefully and keep their comments terse and to the point; the longer the submission the more likely it is that it will not be accepted. I, Barry De Saw, will not edit anyone’s post in any way, but if the submission is declined I may inform the prospective contributor about the reason(s) the submission was declined.

I will post new threads (or addenda to existing threads) several times every month. Visitors can elect to be notified of the postings by e-mail by selecting that option on the Contact Us page.

This blog was first created and published in March 2016, the professional site development was the work of webmaster Blair De Saw.
